Anonymous:  would you ever use "dangerous" to describe trick? that fall sounds nasty...

AHAHAHAHA GOD no.

He is as honest as they come. You put him in the cross ties and you know instantly if he feels fresh or if he is just right. He doesn’t have an ounce of stop in him, and in the 3 years of owning him he has spooked at one stupid thing and one very not stupid thing (they were very large mud covered pigs).
He has a buck, but it’s NEVER out of nowhere. I know when he is in the cross ties if he needs a buck and run on the lunge. His buck is easy as pie to stick. Its BIG, but not launching, and he only ever goes in a straight line- so its very easy to stick. And it’s not all the time, in the summer its rare to never. Winter it’s when its very cold and he is jumping big. It’s his fresh thing. He won’t ever run, he will just pop a buck to say he feels good.
Other than that he’s dead simple, and 98% of the time i will put a total beginner on him and trust him 100%. He’s an autopilot kind of guy.

equinebraniac:  describe your worst fall :)

Last november- it was super cold and trick was being FABULOUS. Last oder of last course was set to about 1.25m and i got tight to it. Trick got the rail then took off bucking. Apparently i flipped off sideways and backwards, head drilled into ground. Massive concussion and didn’t get my memory back for about 3 months.

meter-ten:  what's your proudest riding accomplishment?

hmmm. probably sweeping the AO division at milner a year ago.

Or when a few big name trainers inquired about buying trick at thermal for a lot of money. That made me pretty proud. Especially telling them he was definitely not for sale aha

bridle-less:  If you could, is there anything you'd change about your horse?

Conformationally, i would change how bum-high he is. But i think that would change too many things about him. I think with trick, all his imperfections actually make who he is- why he trots so well, has such a big canter, jumps the way he does. so i wouldn’t change anything.
